History of OKARR
From Passion to Purpose: The Story of OKARR
In 2024, four dedicated Oklahomans came together with a shared vision: to build a stronger, more effective system of support for individuals facing addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness, and justice system involvement. Fueled by firsthand experience and a deep commitment to recovery, they founded Oklahoma Alliance for Recovery Resources (OKARR)—a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the gaps in behavioral health services and empowering communities.
What started as a state affiliate quickly evolved into something far greater. OKARR didn’t just represent a network of providers; it became the missing link in Oklahoma’s recovery ecosystem, filling critical gaps in access, training, and community collaboration. As demand for expertise and support grew beyond state lines, an advisory council of recovery advocates from across the country stepped in—helping to shape OKARR’s direction and eventually forming a dedicated Board of Directors committed to long-term impact.
OKARR was built on a foundation of experience, innovation, and advocacy. Our team brings over 100 years of combined expertise in behavioral health, project implementation, workforce development, and criminal justice reform. We don’t just write grants and launch programs; we create sustainable solutions that transform lives and communities.
Today, OKARR continues to push boundaries, developing recovery-driven initiatives, training programs, and strategic partnerships that redefine what’s possible in addiction recovery and behavioral health. Our reach may have started in Oklahoma, but our mission knows no borders—because recovery is a right, not a privilege.
